Worship & Wonder 6: Risk

I'm saying yes to You
And no to my desires
I'll leave myself behind
And follow You

I'll walk the narrow road
'Cause it leads me to You
I'll fall but grace
Will pick me up again

I've counted up the cost
Oh, I've counted up the cost
Yes, I've counted up the cost
And You are worth it

I do not need safety
As much as I need You
You're dangerous
But Lord, You're beautiful

I'll chase You through the pain
I'll carry my cross
'Cause real love
Is not afraid to bleed

I've counted up the cost
Oh, I've counted up the cost
Yes, I've counted up the cost
And You are worth it

Sing with me now

I've counted up the cost
Oh, I've counted up the cost
Yes, I've counted up the cost
And You are worth it

Take my all

Jesus, take my all
Take my everything
I've counted up the cost
And You're worth everything

Jesus, take my all
Take my everything
I've counted up the cost
And You're worth everything

I've counted up the cost
Oh, I've counted up the cost
Yes, I've counted up the cost
And You are worth it

The Cost
Rend Collective

‘Some see faith as the antidote to risk. We see it as an invitation to a future filled with risks worth taking’.

Talking about their latest studio album, As Family We Go, band member Gareth Gilkeson draws on Rend’s distinctive Irish inheritance, recalling St Brendan and his companions setting off with no map for undiscovered shores, praying God’s spirit will lead them through uncharted waters to somewhere new.  He says,

“Now 1500 years later we too are met with the same challenge and possibilities.  Will we step out into the unknown and go, or shrink back into the safety of what is familiar?  One thing we quickly learn is faith is all about risk and adventure.

Whether its in moving to a foreign land or the simple act of loving others who are around us, the truth is, those who make a difference in the world are always risk takers.
And we as a church were never meant to be a timid club, huddled together for safety, but a pilgrim family in progress, chasing after the wild lion heart of God. …

The Holy Spirit moves in us most when we move out of our comfort zones and into the world where the need is.  In other words, the Holy Spirit is most active in us, when we’re most active in building his kingdom here. …

We’ve got to break out of the cages of safety and fear into the wide open spaces of the unknown … nothing is impossible with God.”
