Christmas Day 2018: shine

Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.
Anne Lamott

When I take time out to ponder the treasure God has given me, I see evidence of God’s goodness all around me.  I see the good things the Spirit has propelled me to create.  I see the wonderful gifts others have brought to my bedside.  I am deeply thankful.

But the point of pondering treasure isn’t to keep it within me, under wraps.  Treasure is the Good News to be shared.

May we all burst forth this Christmas Day to bless our earth and all the peoples that inhabit it, joining in with Mary’s song:

I’m bursting with God-news;
    I’m dancing the song of my Savior God.
God took one good look at me, and look what happened—
    I’m the most fortunate woman on earth!
What God has done for me will never be forgotten,
    the God whose very name is holy, set apart from all others.
(Luke 1.46-55. The Message)
